how to treat your hair RIGHT!!

April 28, 2009

YA! that’s what Jenn from indie fixx thought of our shampoo-mi bar… and thanks to your post, our shampoo bars and hair products had been getting lots of attentions the last few days…

One customer question came last night that I thought would be nice to share with you all here.  The customer & her son both have dry scalp problem and was wondering how we can help her.

First of all, dry scalp can be cause by varies reasons.  Can we related to your weather condition, your tap water conditions, how much chemically hair treatment you have and even your health.  It maybe hard for me to tell you specifics because I don’t know where you are located and how your other conditions are.

The most important thing I would suggest is to cut down on products if you haven’t yet, especially on products that contains chemicals & other non-natural fillers.  My believe is always to go for the most natural alternative with the less ingredients or use less product if you can.  Most of the mass products that you can get out there who claims that they have fabulous & instant results are mostly likely just adding more stuffs to your hair/scalp to cosmetically improve the conditional.  In the long run, they will actually harm you more and makes you want to buy more of other stuffs, maybe another new product that the brand introduce to.

Besides, cutting down on products/treaments and go with natural products, you can also try with shampooing less often.  And/Or trying the no-poo method.  If your hair/scalp is not too dirty/oily (and not had a lot of product on it), normally with water and just a bit of conditioner will do a good cleaning for you.  Also, massaging your scalp for a few mins a day can definitely simulates growth for healthy scalp.

Our shampoo-mi bar and everyday conditioner + the daily massage would be my best natural alternative suggestions for you & your son.

My suggestion was mainly targeting her dry scalp conditions.  Of course we have more fabu-licious natural hair products. ^_^  I hope you found the info helpful and feel free to send me your questions anytime.

thanks for your love, IndieFixx

September 29, 2008

about a month or so ago, we were asked to participate in a FUN contest organized by indiefixx for the “BEST OF BATH & BODY PRODUCTS”… we sent in a bunch of our favorite products for Jen and her 2 other judges to try out… and for the last 2 weeks in a row, we were so honored to be named the winner of the BEST HAIR CARE and BEST BODY SCRUB.

IndieFixx is one of my favorite blog and my everyday must read… Jen always post about the most interesting or most wanted indie product… or the best tutorials or inspirations… or the best etsy finds… and of course the most FUN contests..  She now even runs a shop with her favorite indies’ goodies… Visit her blog or shop to see it yourself.

sweet testimonials from far… and near…

July 25, 2008

I love testimonials… a customer from France just wrote about us on her blog.  Since I don’t read French, I had to turn on the Babel Fish from Yahoo.  It helps but wasn’t perfectly translated.  So I ask Ludyvine(the customer) and she was so sweet to send me the English version of her post…

“What’s better than being pampered at the end of pregnancy???
I am crazy about natural cosmetics, unfortunately in France I haven’t find something that smells real good.
When I say « smell good », it is to find something else than the basics smells we have here, mostly olive scents or Alep’s bread…which I’m a not a real fan…
I love Lush’s products, I enjoy the originality and the colors, besides the scents are absolutely great! Even if these products are fresh handmade cosmetics, they are made with loads of chemical products such as Paraben…So that is why I was looking for something more natural.
While I was surfing on the web, I have found a link to this shop :
« mi SPA » , it is all natural product, guaranteed « Paraben Free » and all the ingredients are listed on the website…no surprises if you want to order.Mimie Wong is the creator of these cosmetics and I really felt in love with the design of her website, the pictures of the products…I just wanted to try them…
All the scents are quite unused here in France, and reminds me of flowers and Japanese’s touch. On its site you can find all the products and especially the origin of plants that Mimie Wong uses to manufacture her cosmetics.
I would add that the design of its products is very pleasant. The price is more than affordable a 4oz soap costs around 4 € which is less expensive than our “awful  scented soaps”. The shipping cost is a little high, but there’s insurance included and the package was sent on the 18th of July and arrived home on the 23rd (19-20 was weekend) so very fast delivery from California. I’ve also had a sample with my package, a nice pen plus a list of coupons from www.totallyindiecoupons.comIn this post I’m talking about natural products and in the French version about ecology, of course if you have a deep thought what would you say? Okay she buys natural soaps & products, but they they come from USA…all this pollution (transport by airplane etc…)
I agree it might not be the best thing…but have you ever questioned yourself about the origins of the plastic bottle you are using with your everyday shampoo???
That is why this year I have decided to make a donation to http://www.actioncarbone.org/ which will  compensate all the pollution I have consumed this year, because yes, I consume, you consume, they consume…but what do we do????”

Here’s another sweet note from her email…
“Last night I couldn’t sleep, so I took a hot shower used one of your soap bars, which relaxed me a lot and then I used the sake lotion sample, the smell was so good…I felt great and went back to bed and finally slept.
Have a wonderful day,
Ludyvine”

And ”NEAR” - back home in the states, I recently received this message from Holly (decor8)
“I am so happy to hear from you. Your package arrived recently and I LOVE EVERYTHING. Thank you. My husband took the lip balm and soy candle right away, and the bar of soap, and ran off with it. :) He loves your products and will not give them back to me. Oh well. :)
Best,
Holly E. Becker
