how to treat your hair RIGHT!!
YA! that’s what Jenn from indie fixx thought of our shampoo-mi bar… and thanks to your post, our shampoo bars and hair products had been getting lots of attentions the last few days…
One customer question came last night that I thought would be nice to share with you all here. The customer & her son both have dry scalp problem and was wondering how we can help her.
First of all, dry scalp can be cause by varies reasons. Can we related to your weather condition, your tap water conditions, how much chemically hair treatment you have and even your health. It maybe hard for me to tell you specifics because I don’t know where you are located and how your other conditions are.
The most important thing I would suggest is to cut down on products if you haven’t yet, especially on products that contains chemicals & other non-natural fillers. My believe is always to go for the most natural alternative with the less ingredients or use less product if you can. Most of the mass products that you can get out there who claims that they have fabulous & instant results are mostly likely just adding more stuffs to your hair/scalp to cosmetically improve the conditional. In the long run, they will actually harm you more and makes you want to buy more of other stuffs, maybe another new product that the brand introduce to.
Besides, cutting down on products/treaments and go with natural products, you can also try with shampooing less often. And/Or trying the no-poo method. If your hair/scalp is not too dirty/oily (and not had a lot of product on it), normally with water and just a bit of conditioner will do a good cleaning for you. Also, massaging your scalp for a few mins a day can definitely simulates growth for healthy scalp.
Our shampoo-mi bar and everyday conditioner + the daily massage would be my best natural alternative suggestions for you & your son.
My suggestion was mainly targeting her dry scalp conditions. Of course we have more fabu-licious natural hair products. ^_^ I hope you found the info helpful and feel free to send me your questions anytime.
eco laundry soap DIY
if you are like me, always on the look out for new green living tips, you maybe just as excited as me with this post … I came across a wonderful blog post yesterday – “10 Homemade Laundry Soap Detergent Recipes“… shows you how easy it is to make your own laundry soap at home just using simple ingredients found at your local grocery store or you may already have them at your pantry with any of your favorite bar soap… of course for me that’s never a shortage… in fact, I’ve been searching for ways to put my “not-as-perfect” development soaps into a good use.
I’m thinking to try out with recipe #9… I just prefer to go with a powder form…
Powdered Laundry Detergent – Recipe #9

12 cups Borax
8 cups Baking Soda
8 cups Washing Soda
8 cups Bar soap (grated)
- Mix all ingredients well and store in a sealed tub.
- Use 1/8 cup of powder per full load.
*to make it more special, you may want to add in your own favorite essential oil.. just about 8-10 drops for each load should be good.
*also try adding some vinegar to the “bleach” slot if you want to super-brighten your laundry. ^_^
and well.. if you are not a fan of making your own … no biggies… there are quite many lovely fellows who can make them for you, here are a few that looks pretty to me:
Eco Everyday
Maple Hill Farm
Earth’s Essence
I hope we all try a little bit everyday to do something NICER for the environment and for everyone… if you do tried out the recipes or anything from these fellows that you like, don’t forget to comment back here… I would love to hear about your experiences and feedbacks…
